A lot of folks really like the new Moleskine Pens so I thought we would take a quick look at the new gold and silver versions today. The Moleskine Metallic Ink Roller Pen in Gold and Silver are the same design and style as their regular ink counterparts but they have translucent bodies with black accents.
Before we talk about the writing experience lets look at the one annoying thing we found with the packaging. The pens come with color indicator stickers which I personally don’t use. I don’t find them especially useful on a pen with a translucent body where you can see into the ink refill but I guess they meant to be are decorative as well. The odd thing about them though is that I never would have found them if I didn’t rip the package open the way that I did here. The stickers are glued between the two layers of the cardboard package so just be aware of this if you buy them and are looking to use them. If you aren’t careful when you open the package you can probably rip them.
Above is a quick look at the top of the Moleskine Metallic Ink Roller Pen that can be either decorative or help indicate what color the pen is without having to see the body. They apply pretty easily and each pen comes with one sheet with 12 gold and 12 silver stickers.
One of the really nice things about the Moleskine Metallic Ink Roller Pen is that it is designed to nicely clip onto the cover of a journal. In this case it is the Minnie Mouse Moleskine Limited Edition Journal we reviewed recently. This is just to show the functionality of the clip though because I’m not sure that you would want to use these as an every day writing pen.
The Moleskine Metallic Ink Roller Pen writes especially smoothly and consistently as compared to other metallic gel ink pens we have looked at here before. The only issue I have with these or any similar pen is how they show up on some papers. As you can see, the silver is definitely easier to see on the black paper and the gold is much easier to see on the white paper. These each took about 4-5 seconds to dry on Levenger Circa paper which isn’t bad at all. I think that these might be a good option for decorative things like writing out holiday cards, so the timing for Moleskine releasing them is good. Head on over to Amazon and you can find the Moleskine Metallic Ink Roller Pen in both Gold and Silver, they are a pretty good choice in a category with limited options.
