The Most Popular Reviews of 2011

Last week I shared with you the most frequently visited reviews on the site for 2011, which gives good insight into the most popular items posted on the site since it’s inception back in 2008.  Today, we have a slightly different look at the most popular posts that is specific to only the items that we reviewed in 2011.  On Wednesday of this week we will have the annual Editors’ Choice Awards for the most popular office supplies of the year, here are the 2009 and 2010 versions of the list.  So here are the top 2011 reviews, starting with #10 and working our way to the most popular:

10.   Kindle Fire First Impressions - I still owe a full follow up review on my Kindle Fire, which I initially had some serious set up issues with.  Eventually I got it up and running and its been more enjoyable to use.  (Buy)

Kindle Fire and Charger

9.   Sharpie Pen Original New Colors and New Body Style - Finally, Sharpie has introduced new colors of the popular Sharpie pen, and along with the new colors, they also snuck in a new design to make the grip much more comfortable.  Sharpie pens are always a popular item with all of the readers here, so it is no surprise to see these make the list of popular reviews for the year.  (Buy)

8.   Schrade Tactical Fountain Pen - The Schrade Tactical Fountain pen got a lot of attention for its rugged good looks, durable construction, and the minor side benefit that you can actually use it as a weapon.  Nobody is going to mess with you at your next meeting if you have this pen with you.  (Buy)

7.   Sharpie Gel Highlighters - These new highlighters from Sharpie have retractable gel sticks that leave a crayon-like marking behind when you write on paper with them.  They definitely have a unique look and feel to them, so if you are a connoisseur of highlighters, these are worth checking out. (Buy)

Sharpie Gel Highlighter Uncapped and Extended

6.   Pilot B2P Recycled Pen - These  B2P (Bottle 2 Pen) recycled pens from Pilot have a twist, they actually use recycled water bottles to make them, and when you take a close look at the body of the pen, you can see that they were actually designed to look as much like a water bottle as possible. (Buy)

5.    Uniball Kuru Toga Roulette - This is by far my favorite mechanical pencil.  The Kuru Toga mechanism that turns the lead to keep it consistantly sharp and the matte black finish of the entire body make it as visually appealing as it is functional.  (Buy)

4.    Acco Clix - These interesting paper fasteners are an alternative to paper clips made by Acco.  They are pretty interesting, but I don’t think a 1:1 replacement for a paper clip.  (Buy)

ACCO Klix Paper Fasteners Open

3.  TWSBI 530 Fountain Pen - This is a great fountain pen and very popular since its inception.  It has been upgraded now with the TWSBI 540 which has a larger ink capacity and smoother cap threading.  (Buy)

Twsbi Demonstrator Capped

2.   Saddleback LeatherAs I’ve said before, this is probably one of two things that I own that I’d consider an absolute favorite possession.  The quality of the Saddleback products overall is far superior to any other leather product I’ve laid my hands on, so it is worth checking out all of their stuff, not just the bags.   (Buy)

The Large Saddleback Leather Classic Briefcase in Dark Coffee Brown

1.   Field Notes Steno PadThis was our first Field Notes review and it recieved quite a bit of traffic directly from the Field Notes website so that explains its position as the most popular item reviewed this year.  It is a quality product nonetheless though. (Buy)

Field Notes Brand Steno Pad and Pencil

So now that you know what the most popular reviews were for 2011, check back on Wednesday when we will announce our 2011 Editors’ Choice Awards for the best office supply products of 2011.
