Logitech M570 Trackball

Logitech M570 Trackball Scroll Wheel

After posting some great sales on the wireless Logitech M570 Trackball (via Amazon) I realized that I never actually reviewed mine.  Being that I liked it so much that I bought two I figured I shouldn’t short change it like that, especially after recommending it so often at the great sale prices its seen lately.

Besides being one of a few trackball mice out there, the Logitech M570 is also wireless, which is a nice additional feature.  It connects to your computer using the Logitech unified USB receiver that has a low profile and works with up to 6 other Logitech peripherals like their keyboards.

The Logitech M570 Trackball runs on a single AA battery, which so far has been holding up well in both of these mice that I own.  Its been close to a year that I’ve been running them off their original battery.  Inside the door for the battery there is also a space for storing the Logitech unified receiver.

Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Front Buttons

The trackball format itself is my favorite thing about this mouse because it is great for tight spaces if you don’t have a lot of room for a mouse pad and moving your mouse around a large surface area.  My second favorite thing though are the programmable buttons you see that work great for the back and forward navigation tasks for everything from web browsing to navigating through windows explorer folders.  The scroll wheel for additional navigational flexibility is also a great feature.  With the Logitech M570 trackball you can often get through some pretty lengthy computer sessions without much need to take your hand off it too often to hit any pesky keys on your keyboard.

Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Inside

One thing you will want to keep in mind with the Logitech M507 Trackball is that you will need to clean the inside of the trackball housing occasionally.  I probably pop it open once every month or so and clean the small white nubs you see in there.  There are three of them that the trackball rolls against to locate where your pointer is, and they tend to get a bit gunked up after a while.  You will notice that this can make the performance of the mouse a bit laggy, but luckily thats pretty easy to fix.

Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball Wireless Receiver

I actually forgot one of my actual favorite things about the Logitech M570 Trackball, or any trackball for that matter.  It’s the fact that I would say maybe 90 percent of the general population sees this as some sort of foreign device and has no idea what to do with it, hence they probably will take a hands off approach to doing anything on your computer.  I’m not sure what the price will be once this review is posted but I’m pretty sure the current sale price of $20 will be long gone but I think that anything at about $30 or less is a great deal for the wireless Logitech M570 trackball.
