Typically I don’t like to review an available office supply product if I can’t get it in my hands to test for myself, so when the nice folks from InkCycle offered to send over some of their grenk remanufactured ink cartridges I was quickly frustrated when I learned that my newer printer was not supported.  Not wanting to turn down the opportunity to review a cool new earth friendly office supply, I decided to share this opportunity with the awesome folks who have signed up for the special additional content that I share with them in my my newsletter and monthly giveaway.  Lucky for me,there were quite a few people who reviewed the list of supported printers and were willing to write up a review if given a sample of the product.  I went to the trusty random number generator from Random.org and JoniB from the blog Daydreamers Welcome was the lucky winner, so check our her review and experience with the grenk remanufactured ink cartridges, and follow through to the end to see how you can win some for yourself.

“My experience with refills has not been good.  I’ve had to trash one printer because the refills leaked all over the inside and no one (manufacturer or retailer) would accept responsibility.  That was about 6 or 7 years ago and I’m sure the process has been greatly refined since then.”

Or so I hoped when I responded to the contest at OfficeSupplyGeek.  Brian contacted me and after a couple back and forths, we decided to try the yellow refill for our main printer at home.  Not long after the last email went out, my little dog let me know with her shrill barks that FedEx left something at the door.  My hubby, aware of my penchant for mail order, asked what I’d sent for this time.

“It’s the yellow cartridge for the big printer!”

“Oh.”  He’s a man of few words.

I opened the box eagerly and was surprised to discover not only the yellow cartridge replacement, but the other three as well!  Cool beans!  Then, I carefully opened the yellow cartridge box.  I peered through the plastic bag.  It looked okay.  No leaks.

Hubby sat down at the computer and gestured for me to go ahead.  I opened the hatch and pulled out the empty cartridge.  Side by side, I could tell they were nearly identical.  The label was the only difference.  I looked at Hubby.  He looked at me.  I unwrapped the refill and pushed it into place.  A snug fit.  The printer immediately indicated a full ink level.

“Okay,” I said, “print something with a lot of yellow.”  He clicked around his files here and there, and then pressed print.  The machine went into action and out came a copy of a beautiful yellow drawing that Hubby did a few months back.

“Give it a few days,” he said, “to make sure that it doesn’t leak inside.”

We did.  It’s been two weeks.  We have a winner, folks!  And InkCycle has a new customer.
