The Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler Side View

The other day we reviewed some colored staples that surprised us by not having their color flake off, and mentioned that we would follow up with a review of the unique stapler we used with them.  Today we have that review of the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Stye Stapler.  That’s a huge mouthful.  Again, this is a sample product from our friends at JetPens that was given to us free of charge for this review.

Max Colored Staples

Here is a quick picture of the mini colored staples that we used with them, they are #10 staples by Max.  They loaded in pretty easily, the only hard part was managing to pick them up because they are kind of small.  They fit right in and didn’t jam or anything like that.  We were able to staple through about 8-10 sheets of paper with this combination of staples and the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler.  Obviously the variance on the number of sheets will depend on the thickness of the sheets of paper, and if you use different staples that have a sharper point to them,  you may also get different results.

I usually like to show at least one picture of the product in the package, but in this case the black version of the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler really doesn’t photograph well.

Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler Storage Space

The back of the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler has a flip top storage space that lets you store things like paper clips or extra staples.  You can hold about 4 strips of the #10 staples which turns out to be 200 of them.  In addition to the clip of 50 staples that is loaded in the main tray, this means that you can always have 250 staples with you and ready to staple with.

If you are slow like me, you may need some help figuring out how to actually open and use this stapler.  Its actually easy once you figure it out.  The first thing you need to do to open the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler is to use your finger nail between the gap there to separate the top and bottom arms.  Once you open them up to the point where you can see the inside of the staple tray, just slide back the tab that you see on the top outside part of the front of the cylinder.  This slides the small blade in place right in front of the staple tray that presses down on the individual staples to dispense them into your papers.

Besides the cool storage space, there is also the fact that the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler is ultra portable.  In the picture above you can see that it easily fits into one of the pen sleeves on a pen case, in this case its Brad’s Nock Co. Brasstown pen case.  You might have to be careful about how you put it in next to other pens, but I figured this would help put its size into an easily digestible perspective for everyone.

The Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Stye Stapler is definitely a cool mini stapler.  It covers a few bases here.  You can use some very high quality colored staples with it, you can store it in a pretty small space so you can have it with you at all times, and it has its own storage space built into it.  The saying that good things come in small packages totally applies to the Sun-Star Stickyle Pen-Style Stapler.  Thanks again to our friends from JetPens for shaing this review sample with us.
