The Nock Co and Dudek Modern Goods Idea Dock With Pen and Index Cards Loaded

When I first saw the teaser for this Nock Co and Dudek Modern Goods Idea Dock (I think it was on Instagram from Brad) I knew I was going to purchase it ASAP.  Unfortunately I missed its initial release and they sold out so I had to wait for them to come back in stock again, which happened a few weeks ago thankfully so I finally got my hands on one.

The concept behind the Idea Dock is pretty simple.  Its a place to store your 3×5 index cards and/or Field Notes type journals as well as your favorite pen.  In addition to being a storage place, its a stand that can display an index card standing so you can read it.  This is great for a to do list or just even something like a daily quote or reminder that you want to have front and center on your desk.  My only minor super minor quibble is that putting the index card in the slot hides your pen, I’d love it even more if the pen groove was situated in front of the Idea Dock and the card slot was off to the back.  Regardless of that though, this thing is really fantastic looking.

Before I was lucky enough to own the Nock Co and Dudek Modern Goods Idea Dock, I was left to just keeping my index cards stored in my desk with a binder clip and my Field Notes similarly just sat in a drawer.  The Idea Dock provides a great place to store these items that makes them much more easily accessible than having them tucked away in a desk drawer where I’d have to go digging for them.

The Nock Co and Dudek Modern Goods Idea Dock has a slanted notch cut out that is on a slight angle to keep your index cards tucked away neatly and securely but still makes them very easy to access.  The nice dark finish on the wood also covers the cut out part of the inside of the Idea Dock which allows it to look great even when you aren’t storing anything inside of it.

Taking a closer look at the notch where the index cards sit on the Nock Co and Dudek Modern Goods Idea Dock exposes an inverted “v” shape that helps to let the index card settle on a slight angle and stay situated for your viewing pleasure.  Such a minor thing, but it just goes to show the great attention to detail and thought that was put into this by Brad and Mike when they designed it.

The Nock Co and Dudek Modern Goods Idea Dock is made from a solid block of Walnut Wood and measures 4 inches by 3 inches by 2.5 inches and has four thick and soft felt feet to keep it from scratching your desk.  Additionally as you can see if you look at the photo above closely, the corners have been slightly blunted as to avoid any sharp edges that could hurt you or anything on your desk that you value.

You really aren’t going to find a more convenient and better looking way to store your index cards and show off your favorite pen, so I’d highly recommend grabbing the Idea Dock for yourself.  Its going to look great on your desk and make your note taking and index card using a much simpler and more visually appealing task.  Well done Brad and Mike on a fantastic and unique item thats pretty much the epitome of the type of cool office supplies we like to feature here.  You can grab your own here at the official Nock Co. website.

Turn it backwards. Pen will be in front of the card and the extra cards will be easier to get to. From your close up of the card slot, it’ll work either way.

@Ted – Definitely an option, but I like the cleaner and neater look of not exposing the spare cards…the solid wood grain front just looks really nice to me so I’d rather look at that than the exposed cards. I know I’m being super picky here, but I still love the thing, its great.
