The Pilot G2 Limited with Extra Fine Refills
Posted by: | CommentsAfter trying the regular Pilot G2 and not being thrilled with it, I decided Id give the Pilot G2 Limited a try to see if I liked the different and higher end body style any better. I also swapped out the .7mm ink cartridge with the Pilot G2 Extra Fine Refills ,which are .5mm based on comments from my original Pilot G2 Review.
Uniball Gel RT Micro .38mm Pen Review
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve reviewed a bunch of Uniball Signo pens in the past, but the majority of them have come from JetPens, and are not usually available at many places within the US, especially not at any major retail office supply stores. For that reason, I was excited when I learned that the Uniball Gel RT Micro .38 mm was available from OfficeMax, and also here from Amazon.com if you are so inclined.
Most of my reviews of the Uniball Signo line have consisted of the .38 mm versions, which is one of my favorite pens to use other than fountain pens. I find that the line of the .38mm Signo DX pens are very clean, crisp, and solid…the Uniball Gel RT Micro is no exception. I was worried that this US version might be lacking something, but I realized that with the quality of product that Uniball puts out, it was a pretty silly thought. The Gel RT Micro, although only available in Black, Red, and Blue puts down a bright and solid line when you write with it and makes for an incredibly smooth and comfortable writing experience. I enjoy the simplicity of this pen because its not trying too hard to look flashy or offer too much, its just a good pen that writes well. I especially like the smooth rubberized grip with its subtle taper towards the bottom that flares back out slightly right before the plastic cone of the tip. This provides an area for your thumb and forefinger to nestle into comfortably.
The above writing sample with the Uniball Gel RT Micro .38 was done in my Black n’ Red Notebook and I was really pleased with how it wrote on this paper. The paper typically does well with most of the inks that I’ve tried on it, however it does tend to take a little longer for many inks to dry on it. The interesting thing with the Uniball Gel RT Micro is that the ink dries much better on this paper than I thought it would. There are very slight streaks after a few seconds, but its not the wet and streaky/smudgy results I’ve had with other pens. If you look closely at the photo above you can see what I mean, the start and end points of some of the numbers show faint streaks, but nothing major.
I feel like I’m kind of just gushing over this pen rather than doing one of my usual reviews here, but its simplicity and fantastic performance really make the Uniball Gel RT Micro hard not to like and enjoy writing with.
Pilot Precise V5 RT Liquid Ink Pen Review
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve always been a fan of the Pilot Precise line of pens, and these Pilot Precise V5 RT Retractable Liquid Ink Pen (from Office Max, great service btw, I’ll post about that some other time though) are the first ones I have bought in a long time because they always seem to last for such a long time. I was reminded of them by @Speedmaster who writes the fantastic blog, Amateur Economist which is full of interesting news about watches, pens, economics, mens fashion, and other great stuff, its kind of like GQ Magazine, but better…a must read if you want to be well-informed about interesting things.
Is the Pilot G2 the Best Pen
Posted by: | CommentsThe Pilot G2 Gel Ink Pen is one of the most popular pens out there according to various sources. If you believe their own packaging, it is the #1 selling pen in America, it is currently in the #1 spot on Amazon’s list of Top Pens and Refills, and is #1 on the Amazon list of Top Rollerball Pens as well. Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan, which seems to go against commonly accepted opinion among people who enjoy their pens.
Pentel Tradio EnerGel Combo Pen – Nature Matte Body
Posted by: | CommentsA while back I got this Pentel Tradio Energel Combo pen from the nice folks at JetPens.com, and its about time I get to reviewing it. In the past I’ve reviewed the Pentel Tradio Stylo which has a similar body, but is more of a felt tip pen.
Zebra Sharbo X Carbon Fiber Multi Pen
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve seen the Zebra Sharbo X around some of my favorite office supply review sites such as The Pen Addict, and there have been tons of people asking if i have used one and plan on reviewing one, so I figured I should just take the plunge and see how it goes. Back in November I finally ordered the Sharbo X Multi Pen from JetPens and have been using it daily since then, is it the best multi pen out there? Well my verdict on this one might surprise some folks so keep reading and see to see how this pen has worked out for me and hopefully it helps you make the right purchase decision if you are considering the Sharbo X for yourself.
Uniball Signo 207 Ink Drying Test
Posted by: | CommentsRecently I had a comment on my first Uniball Signo 207 review regarding the drying time for this ink on different papers. When I went back and looked at the review, I realized that I never did any kind of test to see how quickly these pens dry. So Luis, here is an update to take a look at the Signo 207 on some different paper.
Morning Glory Mach II Liquid Ink Pen Review
Posted by: | CommentsIn my recent order from JetPens I bought myself (yes, bought myself, I’m talking to you FTC with your new rules) a ton of new pens to try out, but one of the more interesting ones was also one of the more simple and basic looking pens. The Morning Glory Mach II Liquid Ink Pen looks fairly unassuming, but dont let that fool you, the description on the JetPens site says that the pen will write for 5000 m, or just over 3 miles. Jetpens says on their site that they didnt test that claim out, and unfortunately I dont think I could justify wasting that much paper to try it out.
Pilot Hi Tec C .25mm
Posted by: | CommentsThe last time I reviewed a Pilot Hi Tec C, it was actually the Coleto Multi Pen version where I used the .3mm refills, and I liked that pen lots. With that good experience under my belt, I thought Id try out a slightly smaller version, and go with the .25mm single barrel pen.
UGLee Pen Super Comfortable Ergonomic Pen
Posted by: | CommentsThe UGLee Pen might be one of the most interesting looking pens I’ve ever seen, but just looking cool isnt enough to fit into the cool office supplies category. Lucky for this pen, it has much more than just a unique look going for it. It was designed by Doctor James Lee who has spent a good deal of his life in search of a pen that can be used all day that doesnt result in cramping, or fatiuge.
Uniball Signo .5mm Brown Black
Posted by: | CommentsBack when I did my first review of the Uniball Signo DX .38 in black brown, I mentioned that I didnt like how the ink looked mostly black on paper. Well, I had a comment from one of my friendly readers suggesting that I try out the .5mm version if I wanted to be able to better see that it was brown black instead of looking like regular black, so I picked one up at Maido Stationery in CA to try it out and compare.
Zebra Sarasa Clip 1mm Gel Pen
Posted by: | CommentsTypically when I buy my office supplies to review, I stick to pens that are at or below the .5mm range, but I figured just because I happen to like them doesnt mean I should ignore the other options out there for you to read about. When I saw the Zebra Sarasa Clip in blue black in a 1mm version, I thought I should give it a try and write it up for those of you who like larger tipped pens.
