Inside Your Sharpie Pen

Original Sharpie Pen and Refill (top) Sharpie Pen Retractable and refill (middle) Sharpie Pen Grip and refill (bottom)
After a bunch of reviews of different Sharpie Pens, and hearing lots of different feedback on the shade of blue and how long ink was (or wasnt lasting) I decided it was time to get to the heart of the matter and crack these suckers open to see what was going on in there. Lucky for me I happened to have a blue version of each Sharpie Pen on hand to hack apart for your viewing pleasure…or disgust, I can see either side of that arrangement.
The Sharpie Pen Grip – Evolution of the Sharpie Pen
Posted by: | CommentsThe Sharpie Pen Grip is a new version of the Sharpie Pen that seems to have taken a bit of the original Sharpie Pen and a bit of the Retractable Sharpie Pen to create a hybrid that seems to address some of the feedback and issues that people had with those previous versions. Hopefully this review and the pictures will help you determine if this is the holy grail of Sharpie Pen for you, or if you would rather stick to one of the previous versions.
Sharpie Pen in Orange and Purple
Posted by: | CommentsI’ve heard all of this talk of orange and purple Sharpie Pens for a while, and to be quite honest, I was beginning to feel as if they were the unicorn of the office supplies world. Random sightings here and there, and lots of people saying how awesome they are, but I couldnt find them anywhere. When I saw the recent review of the orange one over at The Pen Addict, I finally started to accept the fact that they might actually exist. (Update they are available at Amazon now)
Retractable Sharpie Pen Review
Posted by: | CommentsIt was not that long ago that I reviewed the Sharpie Pen which I really liked, and it seems to be a pretty popular pen based on the other reviews and feedback Ive seen from other people that appreciate unique office supplies. The new Sharpie Retractable Pen takes the previous version and makes a few changes in addition to just being retractable. Before getting started with the review though, I just wanted to thank the folks at Sharpie for providing me with pre-release samples of these to review.
Pentel Tradio Pen Review
Posted by: | CommentsBack in April I was going to do a review of the Pentel Tradio, but I misplaced it and then the next day The Pen Addict did his review so I didnt want to double up and go back to back so I put the pen aside for a rainy day. With a rain delay holding up the start of the Yankee game, I figured this would be my “rainy day” although Im in NJ and the game is being played in Chicago.
I picked this up from Writers Bloc for $8, and as a full disclosure, there was no special discount or consideration given to me for the review.
The Sharpie Pen Review
Posted by: | CommentsThere are lots of reviews out there of The Sharpie Pen, and I have had mine for a while now, but I never got around to writing up my review of them until now. These pens come in fine point in red, blue, black and green and are available at most stores that I have visited. Amazon has the assorted color packs available in both a 4 pack and 14 pack. There is also a 4 pack of black only available, and both Staples and OfficeMax carry a 12 pack of red, blue, and black individually.
Being (as the package proudly states) the “first Sharpie pen” these pens have a lot to live up to if they want to match the versatility and quality standards that the basic Sharpie permanent market has set. Knowing the Sharpie brand, I was sure that they would not compromise the brand name with an inferior product, so when I did this review with the writing samples, I was not surprised by how well the pens performed. Paper Mate Liquid Flair Medium Point (previously Liquid Expresso) Review
Posted by: | CommentsPilot Razor Point Liquid Ink Marker Pens Extra Fine
Posted by: | CommentsThese Pilot Razor Point EF pens that I picked up from Amazon.com were kind of an impulse purchase. I was doing my Christmas shopping and I am usually a sucker for free shipping so I just start adding stuff to my order, and these pens caught my attention and ended up in my cart. I dont know if I’m just remembering wrong, or what, but I feel like I have been using this pen or something very similar from Pilot for years now, and I have always enjoy writing with them.
When I did my review on red pens I inadvertantly left out the Pilot Razor point eventhough I included it in the picture, so I thought I would take this opportunity to do a full review on them today. According to the Pilot website these pens won’t dry out or bleed through paper the same as regular markers do, and they have a liquid ink that provides a smooth writing experience. They also mention that the pens have a tough plastic point, which I can only assume means that if you are a heavy handed writer who presses hard with their pen, this is probably the pen for you. I did try pressing pretty hard while writing with these, and there seems to be no negative impact on the pen itself, the only difference I noticed was a slightly thicker and darker line as compared to regular writing, but the point itself does seem rather sturdy.
