Paper Mate Biodegradable Pen

The Environmentally Friendly Paper Mate Biodegradable Pen

Environmentally friendly, or green office supplies are appearing more and more often, so I thought I would take a look at the Paper Mate Biodegradable Pen that I picked up from OfficeMax and which is also available in more varieties here from Amazon.  There is also a biodegradable mechanical pencil version which I didn’t pick up to test out, but judging from the pictures of it, its got a similar look and feel.

Pilot Acroball Ballpoint 7mm

The Pilot Acroball 7mm Ballpoint Pen in Red

With my last post on the Pilot G2, @dowdyism from the PenAddict (click the link for his review) left a comment that reminded me I had never reviewed the Pilot Acroball 7mm ballpoint pen that I picked up from JetPens a few months ago.  I figured now was a good time to do the review before I forget again.

OXO Good Grips Retractable Ballpoint Pen

As you may know, OXO Good Grips has a new line of home office supplies that are distributed exclusively by Staples, so today I want to share the OXO GOOD GRIPS™ Retractable Ballpoint Pens with you.  As a side note, these were not given to me by either Staples or OXO Good Grips, I purchased them at my local Staples myself for my ever-growing stash of home office supplies.

The UGLee Pen, ergonomically designed by an actual doctor

The UGLee Pen, ergonomically designed by an actual doctor

The UGLee Pen might be one of the most interesting looking pens I’ve ever seen, but just looking cool isnt enough to fit into the cool office supplies category.  Lucky for this pen, it has much more than just a unique look going for it.  It was designed by Doctor James Lee who has spent a good deal of his life in search of a pen that can be used all day that doesnt result in cramping, or fatiuge.

The Uniball Jetstream Premier 1mm in its package

Eventually you might get tired of coming to this site looking for cool office supplies only to find yet another review of a slightly different Uniball Jetstream, but I assure you that I think this may be one of the last Jetstream reviews for a while.  Not because I don’t like them anymore, but just because I think I’ve covered the majority of the Jetstream line.  This version is readily available from Amazon here for about $7.00 if you are interested.

Bookmarker Flag Pen by Everyday Innovations

Bookmarker Flag Pen by Everyday Innovations

Back in May when I went to the 2009 National Stationery Show to scout out some unique office supplies, I ran into Alan Regala from Everyday Innovations and he showed me the new Bookmarker Flag Pen and Bookmark that they were introducing.  It struck me as being such a simple but basic idea so it really had my attention as a new office supply that could really make peoples lives a bit easier by giving them less to carry around.  Lucky for me, Alan was kind enough to send over a sample of the Bookmarker free of charge for me to review and share with you.

Uniball Jetstream Alpha Gel in black brushed metal.

Uniball Jetstream Alpha Gel with a black brushed metal body.

Recently when @dowdyism over at The Pen Addict posted this, it reminded me that I had never done a pen review on one of my pens that I have a love/hate relationship with.  Now I know I’ve reviewed 2 other Uniball Jetstream pens, but although the ink cartridge and delivery system on this pen is the same as the others I reviewed, the body of this pen is much different.

The Uniball Jetstream ballpoint in red.

The Uniball Jetstream ballpoint in red.

This is probably a shorter office supply review than you are used to here, but I realized I forgot to do something when I did my initial review of the Uniball Jetstream ballpoint pen in the past, so I wanted to revisit it for two reasons.  First and most importantly I love these pens, even for a ballpoint they just write so well, and they look awesome too.  Second reason is because I picked up this red version of the pen from JetPens.com recently and I realized I never compared the Jetstream to a regular ballpoint pen.

The Old School Bic 4 Color Multi Pen.

The Old School Bic 4 Color Multi Pen.

OK, so dont pretend like you didnt (or still dont) have one of these and you love(ed) it, because I did (and now do again) and it was the best pen ever at the time.  I was thrilled when I came across this pen on my recent trip to Boston at Bob Slate Stationer.  It was a great store with a ton of awesome office supplies, and I just couldnt pass this pen up.  If you dont live near a Bob Slate Stationer, you can also pick up this classic on Amazon.com in multiple packaging options.  I also recently was reminded of this pen by someone on Twitter (@AFondMemory) who had one pictured on her site, which brought back some…well fond memories and made me want to get my hands on one of these, she also has some nice hand modified journals for sale over there if you are in the market for something like that.

The Mickey Mantle Baseball bat pen, and The Mick's own handwriting.

The Mickey Mantle Baseball bat pen, and The Mick's own handwriting.

In honor of opening day for the 2009 baseball season, I’ve decided to stretch a bit and write about a pen and some baseball related things.  This might be my first review where I am writing about a pen that I own, but have never actually used and never really intend to use.  I am almost certain that I dont need to write with it to know that I wont like how it writes, I mean its a pretty cheap looking ballpoint tip, so I cant imagine it writes all that well.  This is one of the few pens that I own where it doesnt matter how it writes, its just cool and I like it, so thats why Im writing about it.

Unfortunately the ball in the picture above is a little bit yellowed from not being stored properly, but I dont ever intend on selling it, its mine and I want to keep it that way.  Just a side note though, for anyone who does have an autographed item that they would like to keep so it does not fade or yellow, I highly reccommend one of the UV protected displays like these that will keep your baseball and/or autographs from fading or yellowing, and they look pretty nice too.  They come in multiple versions to display more than just one, and they also sell larger ones to hold other items.

For those of you that dont like baseball, or beer, dont worry, if you read through to the end of the post you will find that there is a contest burried in here for you to win a pen and notebook.

The Post-it Flag+ Ballpoint Pen

The Post-it Flag+ Ballpoint Pen

Typically when I think of pens, I have to say that Post-it and 3M are not the first brand that I think of.  On the other hand, when I think of office supplies in general, then 3M and Post-it certainly come to the top of my mind.  I think Post-its are one of the most commonly thought of office supplies, so the fact that they are starting to offer a wider line of pens should come as no surprise.  The Post-it Flag+ Ballpoint pen that I am reviewing today comes directly from the fine folks at 3M, and they were kind enough to not only share enough of these  to do a giveaway, but also supplied me with a few new products to review that they have not yet released.  If you are looking for these pens immediately, Amazon does have them here for $5.87. Woody grips the Uni-ball alpha gel HD ballpoint pen.

Woody hiding the unique feature of the Uni-ball alpha gel HD ballpoint pen.

I actually forgot for a while that I even had this Uni-ball alpha gel HD ballpoint .7mm pen until I was straightening out my desk a bit last night and I came across it again. I had initially purchased it from JetPens.com a few months ago and used it for a little bit before writing this review. For the most part, I don’t usually buy ballpoint pens to use unless there is something particularly unique about them, and this pen fits that criteria because of the extra “squishy” grip that it has. If you check out JetPens.com you can find this pen there for $9.00 and it comes in 7 different grip colors including Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Rose Pink, and Royal Blue. There are also multiple other versions of Uni-ball Alpha Gel pens that JetPens has available on their site. Read More→
