I've always had a nostalgic appreciation of the original BIC 4 Color Clicky pen as it was one of the first pens I had as a kid that I really appreciated. Back in the day I had no idea why it had that little round ball on top of it, but apparently it was to use to help dial an old school rotary phone. Fast forward to today, and the Bic 4 Color Clicky pen has evolved and replaced the rotary phone dialer with a stylus tip. Check out the Bic 4 Color Clicky … [Read more...]
Fisher Space Pen Backpacker vs Fisher Space Pen Trekker
My Fisher Trekker Space Pen has been a permanent fixture on my key chain for years now and I love it, but when I saw the new Fisher Space Pen Backpacker (via JetPens) I thought that maybe it might be time for an upgrade. If nothing else I just liked the visual of the blue with black accents, so into my cart it went, without much worry knowing how much I loved my other one. … [Read more...]
DUO Ultimate Everyday Ballpoint Pen and Stylus
The DUO Ultimate Everyday Ballpoint Pen and Stylus is a new Kickstarter project that launched today, and you can find the campaign page here. As you can tell from the product name, this is a pretty straight forward product, its a retractable (via twist mechanism) pen with a capacitive stylus at the top. … [Read more...]
RNG Products SQ1 EDC PEN Review
Its often said that you shouldn't judge a book by the cover, and I'm here today to tell you that when it comes to the RNG Products SQ1 EDC PEN the same definitely applies. These were a Kickstarter project, but the website for RNG Products is right here if you want to check it out for yourself. As you can see, these are fairly thin pens, but not too thin. They are also on the slightly shorter side too, but again not too short. For an EDC pen I actually … [Read more...]
Ti Arto – The Ultimate Refill Friendly Pen
In general I've become kind of cynical and tired of Kickstarter pens. Lately most are just some fancy but nicely designed metal that look nice but offer no real innovation. Then I saw the Ti ARTO (back it on Kickstarter here) by BIG IDEA DESIGN. My cynicism stopped dead in its tracks and within a few seconds I decided to back the project myself. The Ti ARTO not only looks amazing, but it also does something that no other pen does to this magnitude. I … [Read more...]
RNG Products SQ1 EDC PEN on Kickstarter
I'm kind of annoyed with myself that I completely forgot about these pens, but they are available on Kickstarter with only a few hours left to go, so apologies for the short notice. For the most part I get kind of tired of Kickstarter pens, but these are so amazing looking, yet simple and elegant. I've already backed them myself so I wanted to share for those of you that will get to read this before the project funding period ends in a few … [Read more...]
Uni Jetstream Prime 3 plus 1
I don't know what I was thinking when I bought this Uni Jetstream Prime 3 plus 1 (buy via Amazon). I mean seriously, look at that odd shape and awful blue jewel on the clip. You think I would have learned my lesson when I reviewed the Uni Jetstream Prime (3 colors, but sans pencil) and couldn't have hated it more. I guess because I love the regular non-fancy pants, plastic version of the Jetstream Multi Pen, I'm obsessed with finding a high end metal … [Read more...]
Sailor G-Free Ballpoint Pen
When I saw the Sailor G-Free Ballpoint (via Jetpens) I was a bit skeptical, but having experienced the brilliance of Sailor fountain pens I figured I owed this pen a chance. The picture above shows the results of the main feature of this pen, but let me explain that. Essentially what happens is that the plunger that you use to extend and retract the tip can be twisted to adjust the amount of pressure that the tip will take before it compresses back into … [Read more...]
Skillcraft Pens Made by the Blind
It isn't often that you will see a basic ball point pen review here, but I've always heard so much about the Skillcraft pens (via Amazon) that I finally had to break down and at least pick some up to try them out. The interesting thing about these pens though is that millions of them are made and sold each year by blind Americans who are part of a program to help them gain economic and personal independence so its a pretty cool thing that you are … [Read more...]
Zebra Z-Grip Retractable Ball Point Pen Medium
The good folks from Zebra sent over a batch of their Z-Grip Ball Point Pens (via Amazon) in assorted colors. They don't seem to be available directly from the Zebra Website but they do have some other sale and clearance items there worth checking out. Lets take a closer look at them now though. … [Read more...]
Bic Cristal Rekap Ruler Cap
Here is a fun little idea that you can support on Kickstarter. Its definitely not going to set the world on fire, but the Rekap ruler cap for the Bic Cristal is a nifty little enhancement to the standard cap. … [Read more...]
Zebra F-301 Ball Point Pen Review
I've always felt that Zebra's line of stainless steel writing tools have suffered from a lack of attention, although I do know a handful of people that are pretty big fans of them all, but nothing along the lines of the runaway popularity of some other pens out there. With that said, I thought it would be good to take a look at the Zebra F-301 Ball Point Multi Color Pack (via Amazon) today , so lets dig in and take a closer look. … [Read more...]
Uni Jetstream Prime 3 Review
I recently realized that one of my most used non-fountain pens was my Uniball Jetstream multi-pen in both the .5mm and .7mm version. The .7mm version is the one in the front with the white clip and the .5mm is the one in the center with the clear clip and glossy black body. The other pen in this picture is the Uni Jetstream Prime with .7mm refills, which I was pretty much assuming would be the perfect pen (for me) with its solid metal construction and … [Read more...]
Cross Satnink Review
For quite some time now, there has been a trend away from standard ballpoint pen ink refills towards hybrid ink refills that look to take the smooth and consistent flow of a gel ink and combine it with the quick drying durable ballpoint ink that people had become accustomed to. It seems like the Cross Satnink Hybrid refill (via Amazon) is a bit late to the party, but when it caught my eye I figured I would grab one to check out and review. … [Read more...]
Fisher Space Pen and The General Pencil Company – This Built America Series
In the past we have reviewed both the Fisher Trekker Space Pen and the Fisher Space Pen Stylus, so it was really cool to get a behind the scenes look at the people and the company behind these products in the "This Built America" series. Its kind of an online magazine article with a video spliced in, but its definitely worth the few minutes to check it out and see the humble and hard working people that put these great pens together and in our hands every … [Read more...]
