Inside the Bottle of Fahrney's Midnight Blues Fountain Pen Ink

Back in June I visited Washington DC and did a tour of the local stationery stores to see what cool office supplies I could dig up, and one of the places I stopped was Fahrney’s Pens.   While I was there ogling over all of the great pens and notebooks,  I also picked up a bottle of their Midnight Blues Ever Write Fountain Pen Ink.

Levenger Cocoa Bottled Fountain Pen ink with Levenger Circa Planner and Pelikan fountain pen

I have been meaning to try some of the Levenger fountain pen ink for a while, so I finally decided to add some to my most recent Levenger order.  I figured I would go with the Cocoa, which is their version of brown.  I went with this color because I decided it would probably look nice in my Levenger Circa Bomber Jacket planner.

It has been a little while since I’ve done a fountain pen ink review, so I thought I’d break out my bottle of Noodler’s Black Red ink for a review.  I cant remember where I bought this bottle from to be quite honest, I think I picked it up on my trip to DC earlier this year, but as with just about everything else in the world, you can pick some up at Amazon.com here.

Noodler's Forest Green Fountain Pen Ink in a 3oz bottle

Noodler's Forest Green Fountain Pen Ink in a 3oz. bottle

Personally I think that using a fountain pen sets you apart from the crowd, and makes for a good conversation starter when surrounded by people who dont typically notice cool or unique office supplies.  In addition to having a nice fountain pen to use, its even nicer to have that fountain pen loaded up with a good looking ink, so today I wanted to review Noodler’s Forest Green fountain pen ink.

75mL bottle of Private Reserve Invincible Aqua Fountain Pen Ink

Private Reserve has come out with a new line of fountain pen ink that goes by the “Invincible” name, meaning that it is designed to be fraud resistant and very permanent.  Lucky for me, Tom over at Goldspot.com was kind enough to offer up a bottle of it for me in trade for something else so I could give it a try and review it.  This review will take a look at the Private Reserve Invincible Aqua Blue, with a focus on its being fraud resistant.

Noodler's Lexington Gray Bulletproof Ink

Noodler's Lexington Gray Bulletproof Ink

Gray ink?  Usually when people try to describe something bland or “blah” they call it gray, so why would a blog that focuses on cool office supplies want to write about gray ink?  Well, I was hesitant to do it initially, but I figured I should give the ink a chance and see how it looked on paper.

My first batch of mixed ink, using my favorite Noodler's Blue Black as the base

My first batch of mixed ink, using my favorite Noodler's Blue Black as the base

I was pretty excited about my purchase of the ink mixing kit that I got for my fountain pen inks, and I thought that doing a review of one of my first mixed inks would be a great office supply review to do.  When I did the review of the ink mixing kit, I made 12 different ink concoctions because there were 12 vials that it came with, and the one I was most excited about was this one that was made using mostly Noodler’s Blue Black, one of my favorite colors.

Private Reserve Ebony Green Fountain Pen Ink.

Private Reserve Ebony Green Fountain Pen Ink.

Since I started this office supply review blog I became fascinated and addicted to blue black inks, and it has now also led me to become fascinated with green black inks.  This review will take a look at the Private Reserve Ebony Green ink that I picked up from Goldspot, who carries a ton of Private Reserve inks here, in addition to their other ink and pen selections.  As I always try to point out when it applies, Goldspot did give me a small discount on my purchase of this ink for the review.

Noodler's Luxury Blue Fountain Pen Ink. Smaller bottle than most Noodler's ink, at 1 oz.

Noodler's Luxury Blue Fountain Pen Ink. Smaller bottle than most Noodler's ink, at 1 oz.

I’ve had this ink for a while now, and with all of last week’s reviews on beginner fountain pens, I feel like I’ve been in a little bit of fountain pen review mode so after todays Noodler’s Fountain Pen Ink review, Im going to give it a rest for a little bit and review some other office supplies.  I actually commented about this ink back when I did my first fountain pen review on the site, which was for my Lamy Studio with the EF nib.

A bottle of J. Herbin Vert Empire.

A bottle of J. Herbin Vert Empire.

As I mentioned when I did the review on the J. Herbin Orange Indien Fountain Pen Ink Review, the Quo Vadis Blog offered up free samples of this ink to bloggers to review.  I am really glad that they made this offer because it has opened my eyes to colors outside of the “traditional” business standards in the blue and black families.  The J. Herbin inks are sold in 30 ml bottles and can usually be found for anywhere from $7.20 to $9.00 plus any applicable shipping and taxes depending on where you look.   Read More→
