Utility Task Clips

These Utility Task Clips that the folks over at Knock Knock sent over for me to look at (and for you to win in the giveaway) look like they could be a helpful tool for organizing, even slightly more helpful than regular binder clips that have no printing or color coding on them.  As I’ve said before, I think that binder clips are probably some of the most frequently used office supplies, so naturally people have taken great effort to spruce them up and/or add extra functionality.

Midori D-Clips Christmas Edition Paper Clips: a Tree, a Snowman and Santa

Midori D-Clips Christmas Edition Paper Clips: a Tree, a Snowman and Santa

The other day I got a nice little Christmas gift from my friends at JetPens.  I have seen the animal and the Christmas shaped Midori D-Clips (paper clips) on the JetPens website before, and thought that lots of people here would probably be happy to get to see them up close and reviewed.

The clips come in a small plastic box that slides open to reveal a total of 15 clips, you get 5 red Santa clips, 5 green Christmas tree clips, and 5 silver snowman clips.  Each of the clips can hold about 12 sheets of paper without stretching them to their limit, but depending on the thickness of your paper, you will obviously get different results.

The Midori D-Clip paper clips function exactly how you might expect, I mean its hard to screw up paper clips, right?    The only thing I’d say you have to be aware of is what you see in the picture above, and that is that the Christmas tree shaped clip sticks out above the top of the paper just a bit.  At just over $8 for the pack of 15, these arent the cheapest paper clips you will ever find, but if you are looking for something a little different for the holidays, then these are definitely the way to go for you.

OXO Good Grips Small Binder Clips

OXO Good Grips Small Binder Clips

I think we all familiar with the OXO Good Grips brand, for their innovative products, so naturally their entry into the office supplies category was something that I was excited about a few months ago when I first saw their products.  When I stopped at Staples recently, I saw the OXO Good Grips display of products that were specially designed for Staples, and I decided to grab some of the binder clips to try out and review.

The Jumbo Binder Clip...I have no idea why I need this.

The Jumbo Binder Clip...I have no idea why I need this, so I wont even pretend like I do.

UPDATE: These are now available to buy here on Amazon.com, or here at Organize.com: Jumbo Binder Clips in Silver by DCI Decor

We all know that one of the most popular and widely used office supplies is the binder clip.  They are really versatile tools to have around the office for clipping, holding, and modifying things, so when I saw this giant binder clip at Bob Slate Stationer on my trip to Boston, I had to have it.

The Made by Humans Staple Free Stapler.

Im trying to mix things up a little bit so we will be taking a break from the usual office supplies such as pens and notebooks, to take a look at the Made by Humans Staple Free Stapler.  I picked this up on my trip to Boston when I stopped at a great little store called Black Ink with lots of office supplies and stationery type items.  I forgot to mention this store on my Office Supply Geek’s Tour of Boston post, so Ill have to update that one to include them.

Metal tin containing the Levenger Metallic Clippies. Like binder clips, but Levenger-ized.

Metal tin containing the Levenger Metallic Clippies. Like binder clips, but Levenger-ized.

Recently Steve Leveen, the CEO of Levenger sent out an email that had a link to my review of the Levenger Junior Size Circa Bomber Jacket Notebook – 2009 Planner, so I thought it would be nice to review another Levenger product since there might be some new readers here who are likely fans of Levenger products.  Levenger Clippies are basically a Levenger product that attempts to improve upon the basic binder clip, which as we saw recently there have been some improvements to. The Uniball Paper Clipper - Uniball's version of the binder clip

The Uniball Paper Clipper - Uniball's version of the binder clip

The Uniball Paper Clipper is a unique item in the sense that it is a Uniball branded product that is not a writing implment, but rather a system for fastening sheets of paper.  The easiest way to describe this is that it seems to serve the same purpose as your standard binder clip.   The medium size version that I have here is suited to bind up to 40 pages, while there is also a small and large verison which bind 60 and 15 pages respectively.  When I saw this item on JetPens.com, I couldnt help myself and just had to add it to my cart, I figured that for $7.50 it was well worth the opportunity to possibly find something as good or better than a regular old binder clip, not to mention that I was searching for something to put my order over that $25 limit so I could get my free shipping. Levenger Page Points

Levenger Page Points

I can clearly remember the first time I got a Levenger Catalog, and saw the Levenger Page Points, and I thought to myself “Wow, $10 for some fancy bookmarks? That’s crazy!” I shortly forgot about them and went on with my business of shopping for accessories for my Circa notebook and who knows what else. It was not until a few weeks later that I realized how short sighted I was being.  In this post I will outline 3 different uses I have found for the Levenger Page points, hopefully you will find it helpful.  Just a few quick things about the Page Points before I get started though.  First, and most importantly for anyone interested in purchasing the Page Points, they can be found here on the Levenger.com website.  The normal price for them is $10, and they come in a set of 36 in a nice tin storage container.  The Page Points are made of copper, and as noted in the Levenger Catalog, they can be left on the pages over long periods of time without any fear of ruining the pages.
