Noodler’s Blue Black Fountain Pen Ink Review
Posted by: | CommentsI posted a 1/2 day poll to allow my readers to pick the next item that they wanted to see reviewed, and the overwhelming winner was the Noodler’s Blue Black fountain pen ink. I was a little surprised by this, but happy at the same time because I was not aware of how many fountain pen fans there were out there. Hope everyone enjoys the review and finds it helpful.
What Office Supply to Review Next?
Posted by: | CommentsI didnt have as much time to write up a new office supply review as I thought I would Friday night, so I’m going to write something up for a review to post tomorrow morning. I thought it would be fun to give the readers of the blog a chance to weigh in on what they would like to see reviewed next, so I figured a small poll was in order. I’ve put together a list of a few of the items I’ve got laying around waiting to get reviewed. Let me know what you would like to see me review next, and that will be the next post that you see up on OfficeSupplyGeek.com on Saturday morning.
I am going to end the voting around 5-6PM eastern so I have time to write up the review and take pictures tonight, I hope I get more than 2-3 votes so this isnt too embarrassing.
The voting is closed and as you can see, with 39% of the votes, the Noodler’s Blue Black Fountain Pen Ink was the winner, so look for that review tomorrow morning. Thanks to everyone who voted, hopefully I’ll get to those other items soon though.

Uni-ball Alpha Gel HD Ballpoint Pen – 0.7 mm – Green Grip
Posted by: | CommentsI actually forgot for a while that I even had this Uni-ball alpha gel HD ballpoint .7mm pen until I was straightening out my desk a bit last night and I came across it again. I had initially purchased it from JetPens.com a few months ago and used it for a little bit before writing this review. For the most part, I don’t usually buy ballpoint pens to use unless there is something particularly unique about them, and this pen fits that criteria because of the extra “squishy” grip that it has. If you check out JetPens.com you can find this pen there for $9.00 and it comes in 7 different grip colors including Black, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Rose Pink, and Royal Blue. There are also multiple other versions of Uni-ball Alpha Gel pens that JetPens has available on their site. Read More→

General Pen and Office Supply Stuff:
- The Sharpie blog has an awesome post and picture about their new Stainless Steel Sharpie that is yet to come out, but the thing is AWESOME and I cant wait to get one. I’m hoping to be able to buy one as soon as they are available and do a post on it. They are nice because they will have refills for them, so they are environmentally friendly, and they just look really cool. Sharpie Blog has been added under my “Read Stuff” section”.
- Ink Quest is a new blog that I just came across that seems really cool, check it out if you are interested in Fountain Pens, there is also an Inkquest twitter account that you can follow. Ill add the Ink Quest blog to my “Read Stuff” section over to the right.
- School Supply Dance is another new blog that looks pretty promising, so go have a look if you are interested. Ill also be putting this one in my “Read Stuff” section over there on the right.
- I noticed another Uni-ball person on Twitter today, daggett_h who lists in his bio “e-Marketing Manager for Sharpie, Prismacolor, Expo, Papermate, Uni-ball”
Giveaways and Free Stuff:
- The Pen Addict has a new giveaway!
- dunkind on Twitter has a giveaway on his Good Pens blog for your choice of fountain pen ink or some pens, check it out and good luck!
- lisasamples on Twitter has a blog post where she is giving away some really nice Uni-ball Pink Ribbon (think breast cancer support) 207 pens. Check out her blog here, Mom of 2 BoysWife of 1 and sign up for the contest.
- Mind Most Peculiar also has a giveaway going on with her pen blog, so you should have a look.
Post-it Flag+ Permanent Marker
Posted by: | CommentsThe Post-it Flag Plus Permanent Marker was an Office Supply Geek impulse purchase that happened while I was checking out what my local Office Depot had to offer. I had never really tried or been a big user of the Post-it flags, however when I saw this, I thought that it was a pretty practical item and I would check it out since it was only about $6 for two of them. The Post-it Flag Plus is identified as being an extra fine point, and the compartment on the top holds 50 Post-it flags with a clear bodies, and white writing surfaces.

Posted by: | CommentsSome quick office supply related blogs from around the internet:
- Everyone’s favorite pen blogger, The Pen Addict has some really interesting pen reviews coming up on pens that most of us are not lucky enough to get easily, he has a contact in Japan who gets him some cool stuff. The Pen Addict is always a fantastic read.
- Aliya S. King has a REALLY awesome post on her DayTimer Planner with lots of pictures and specific examples of how she uses it. She is not a pen, notebook, or planner blogger, but she does write about these things sometimes, and when she does she does an amazing job, I guess it helps that she is a professional writer too.
- Mind Most Peculiar is a new (as if my 4 month old blog isnt “new” too) blog with some good pen reviews so far.
- Moleskine is coming out with larger versions of their notebooks this spring.
- Field Notes has a great post on how their paper holds up when used with a ton of different inks and pens.
- Write Now has some really awesome stationary.
- Office Supplies Blog has a really cool post with art work made out of office supplies.
I’ll be working on some new reviews this weekend, hopefully for a few pens and some fountain pen ink, and I think I’ll also do another give away later this week too.
Uni-Ball Vision Needle Micro
Posted by: | Comments
Woody shows off the Uniball Vision Needle Micro that was so kindly given to me by the friendly folks at Uni-Ball for a review.
The Uni-Ball Vision Needle Micro in this review was given to me by Uni-Ball themselves, specifically by Steve aka Uniball_USA on Twitter who also provided some great feedback for this review on a Uni-Ball Jetstream. This is just another example of what I was talking about in this post when I said that Twitter was a great way to keep connected to the world of office supplies. The folks there are a great resource for all kinds of information, and I suggest you check it out if you have not already done so, and also think about following the users in that post I pointed out back there.
When I first tried out this pen, I was a little nervous because in the first 3 or 4 seconds of writing I got a strange feeling, almost as if there was a grain of sand in the tip. It kind of scratched and didnt start writing as I was used to with every other UniBall pen, fortunately that stopped pretty quickly and the pen has not skipped a beat since then. I’ve tried the pen on my Doane Paper and on my Levenger paper, and it really writes very nicely on both. The writing sample in this review shows the Doane Paper.
I did have some concern in thinking that a pen with “Needle Micro” in the name might be too fine and delicate for every day use, but this pen proved me wrong, as I felt no hesitation in writing in my normal writing style.
You can see in this picture here the cap is a little different, it has a transparent blue insert towards the top of the clip in the center of it. It almost has kind of a jeweled look to it, but in a nice non tacky way. The body of the pen also feels a bit more narrow than most pens, but still a comfortable size for writing with.
The one thing on this pen that I wish was different is the grip area, and the fact that the grip area actually lacks any kind of grip or traction to it. After writing for a bit with it, you do notice yourself (at least my sweaty fingers did) gripping a bit harder on the smooth plastic surface to make sure you have a good hold of the pen.
Other than my specific issue with the grip, I think this is a very nice pen that will write well for you and probably hold up for some time too, as it seems to have the same quality construction of all the other Uni-Ball pens I’ve used. A big thanks goes to Steve at Uni-Ball for sharing this pen with me, and it will be included as an option in my next give away.

Staples Brand Soft Grip Binder Clips
Posted by: | CommentsOne of the most often used and easily recognized office supplies has to be the standard binder clip. They are right up there with duct tape in terms of the many uses (intended and unintended) that have been found for them, and I dont think there is an office anywhere in the world that doesnt have a box of these or a hand full of them in use somewhere. For as long as I can remember, binder clips have pretty much been unchanged in how they were made, just two metal handles and a metal clip that was usually black, although you could find the occasional gold, silver, or other colored version. These newer versions of the old classic from Staples and Office Depot have a slight twist added to them, which actually makes them a bit better to use. They have a rubber coated soft grip on each of the handles used to pry the clip open. Read More→

Uni-Ball Jetstream Ballpoint Pen .7mm
Posted by: | CommentsThe Uni-Ball Jetstream .7mm Ballpoint Pen is one of the very few ballpoint pens that I can honestly say that I like to write with. In addition to enjoying writing with this pen, I also have to say that this is one of the more attractively designed pens that I have seen in a long time, excluding any pen that you might pay upwards of $25 for…luckily this awesome pen can be had from JetPens.com for only $2.25, and comes in red, black, and blue. The thing I like most about the design of this pen is the fact that almost every inch of it is black excluding the plunger and the text on the side of the barrel.
When I first wrote with this pen I was very surprised by how smooth the ink flowed, and how effortlessly the pen glided across the paper. I almost felt like if I didnt focus on controlling the movements of the pen on the paper, I would end up experiencing something similar to what happens when you hydroplane in a car. It really was amazing to me that I was writing with a ballpoint pen. Read More→
